Ahhh! Pics at last

Good morning...afternoon...evening....whatever it is for you. In my introductory blog entry, I mentioned several things that make me happy. It's one thing to tell you, yet another to show you! I omitted to say also how much I enjoy photography (no fancy equipment, just a simple digital camera),as evidenced on the walls and shelves of our home and the copious photo albums documenting our family history!. As I am a visual person.....surprise, surprise.....I assume many of you are too. So here is my first foray into adding photos to my blog. Mind you, if this works, we may have unleashed a beast!

My Easter Hot Cross Buns. I've had years where cooking these proved most unsuccessful. Try hard as rocks. This year, armed with a good recipe and fresh yeast, they were amazing...rose well and tasted great!

Yummy Anzac biscuits, made on the morning of 25th April, to take and share with friends.

Pansies on our back verandah. They always remind me of my darling grandma as she was an artist and these were often the subject of her paintings. A beautiful, old fashioned flower, each with it's own distinctive little face.

Part of what I am knitting for my yet to be born new grandson. I love the old, tattered Patons pattern books that have been around for years. This is from one of those.
If you have any old baby knitting patterns you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you. I'll now get off the computer and get my knitting needles clicking again. Don't want that grandbaby to be born before I finish! And on a cold winters day, while sitting watching the Tigers playing footy on T.V, accompanied by the ongoing commentary of my husband and oldest son, what better thing to do!  The hot cup of tea helps too. Hear from you soon....

A Day in the West

Firstly, for anyone who knows me, the fact that I've remembered (eventually), how to do my next blog entry without Ash guiding me through is nothing short of AMAZING!!!  I've got this far....lets see if I can actually post it!  Mondays are special as we spend the day on the other side of town with our 19 month old grandaughter. As I sit at her mum and dad's computer, she is busily entertaining us....saying "hi" into her imaginary phone, saying "uh oh" if she drops something, putting her purple bike helmet on (she must know we need to go get her big brother from school soon), saying "yep" to all sorts of questions, laughing out loud at whatever amuses her for the moment, and wearing a dress that was her mum's! You know when she needs to have a sleep as when you see her busily rubbing her eyes and ask if she wants to go to her cot, she says "yep" and happily walks to the bedroom with you. She just walked up to me tapping her head with the helmet in her hand saying, "hat, hair". Think she's trying to tell me something? Anyhow, it may be a grey old day outside, but it's certainly sunny in here.....a little voice just said "nana" so I'd better go and see what other delights are in store before we get the pusher out and walk down to school. \
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY...Stop, just for a minute, take a deep breath and look for the little things so easily missed to enjoy. ( Tell me what you discover...)

Welcome to my world

It's a cool autumn afternoon, and I am sitting in my loungeroom with the dulcet tones of the footy commentators in one ear (my Bombers are winning!)  while my husband David strums guitar and I chat with my lovely daughter in law who set up this blog site for me, Thanks Ash! The little girls have been watching a video (yes, video, not DVD) of the Lion King and are now entertaining themselves with whatever they can find  at nana and pa's. The littlest member is very sleepy but rather than sleep is looking very cute sitting on his mum's knee. His dad, our oldest son, has fluctuated between watching the VFL on a TV in another room, changing nappies and making us cups of tea. Just an ordinary Saturday afternoon, but my heart is glad because some of our family is here visiting, we've shared a meal together, and enjoyed good conversation. Maybe I'm easily pleased, but these are the things that make my world happy. This is a new venture for me, so I will write from time to time when something interesting has happened, I try a new recipe, knit a new pattern, whatever. i hope you enjoy the journey with me....I would love to hear about what makes you happy too.
